Make sure your Zippo is empty and that you are working away from any source of flame or heat. Keep a bottle of lighter fluid within reach.
Open the lid of your Zippo to access the wick and the fuel chamber.
Grab the metal case (the part with the wick and the flint wheel) and gently remove it from the outer brass or steel casing.
Turn the inner casing over to expose the felt at the bottom. Gently lift the felt with a small screwdriver or a similar object to create a space.
Hold the fuel bottle vertically and slowly pour the fuel onto the cotton, making sure to soak it evenly without saturating. Avoid spilling fuel outside the cotton (also called wadding).
Replace the felt and make sure it is properly in place. Put the inner casing back into the outer case.
Close the Zippo lid and test the ignition. If the lighter does not ignite immediately, check if the wick is properly exposed and sufficiently soaked with fuel.
Make sure to tightly close the fuel bottle and store it out of reach of children. Clean up any fuel spills and wash your hands after handling.
