It was in Baume-les-Dames, in the Doubs, that Eugène-Léon Ropp established his factory around 1893, after having founded a first factory in Bussang in the Vosges. A visionary, he was one of the first to manufacture cherry wood pipes, and his technical innovation led to rapid growth.The Baume-les-Dames factory becomes a true industrial site, with its own workshops, worker housing, and infrastructure.

Ropp quickly stands out thanks to the quality of its materials and its meticulous manufacturing processes.
