To smoke a pipe properly, you must first be well-equipped and choose the pipe most suitable for the intended use. There are different types of pipes: the clay pipe, the meerschaum pipe, and the briar pipe. Once your pipe is chosen, it is recommended to buy the appropriate accessories (pipe lighter or matches, cleaning kit, pipe tamp, pipe cleaners).
After you have equipped yourself, you can smoke your pipe. For this, you should allow about thirty minutes. Do not forget that smoking a pipe is a moment of relaxation. If you are smoking a briar pipe, avoid wind and drafts, as your pipe might overheat. To prevent your mouth from drying out, have a glass of water at hand. Take small puffs while avoiding inhaling.
Once your pipe is thoroughly cleaned and ready, place a little tobacco to fill one-third of the bowl. Using your tamper, press down the tobacco. It is important not to pack the tobacco too tightly, as the air may not circulate properly. To light your pipe, use a match or a pipe lighter. Bring the flame close to your tobacco while taking a few puffs.
