The end of the stem is curved.

The origin of this corn pipe is worth a legend: A farmer in his cornfield found himself at a loss when, reaching into his pocket, he realized he had forgotten his pipe. Given the vastness of American crop fields, he could not return to his farm to fetch it. So he made do with the materials around him: corn and reeds. He hollowed out an ear of corn, planted a piece of reed in it, and the first corn pipe was born.
