How to make DIY e-liquid

How to make your own DIY e-liquid for electronic cigarettes?

First of all, you will need to equip yourself accordingly: it is strongly recommended to wear a mask and protective glasses when handling the substances. For mixing, make sure to use suitable utensils (beakers, test tubes...). Know that you will have to choose a subtle blend of PG, VG, flavorings, and nicotine booster, so there is a lot tobet that your first DIY e-liquid attempt will not live up to your expectations, but do not despair, and take notes of your different dosages so as not to repeat them.

1. Prepare the base

Measure the PG/VG proportions of your base yourself or make life even easier with the following pre-dosed PG/VG bases: 50/50, 70/30, 20/80, 0/100
. Propylene Glycol (noted PG) is more liquid than Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and will make the e-liquid more fluid, thus protecting the atomizer (coil) of your electronic cigarette.The more the base is loaded with Propylene Glycol, the greater the flavor delivery and the less you will benefit from vapor.
Vegetable Glycerin (VG) is thicker than Propylene Glycol (PG) and will damage the e-cigarette atomizer more quickly. The more the base is loaded with Vegetable Glycerin, the higher the vapor output will be. E-liquid heavily charged with VG should preferably be used with rebuildable atomizers (drippers) that produce a large amount of vapor, thus forming big clouds of vape.

2. Add nicotine (optional)

Sold in the form of a 10 ml "Booster", nicotine is added directly to the base. This compound is the one that will give you throat sensations, commonly referred to as the "hit".

For example, if you want 1L of base at 6 mg/ml:

• 1L = 1000 ml
• 1000 x 6 = 6000 mg

With a 10 ml booster dosed at 20 mg/ml: 10 x 20 = 200 mg of nicotine
6000 / 200 = 30

Therefore, you will need to pour 30 nicotine boosters of 20 mg/ml into 1 L of nicotine-free base to obtain an e-liquid dosed at 6 mg/ml.

In other words, if you want to make 10 mL of e-liquid at 6 mg/ml, you will need to use 0.3 nicotine boosters of 6 mg.

3. Incorporate the flavoring

The flavorings will give your DIY e-liquid the flavor, the taste that you want to give it. Be careful to use only flavorings dedicated to DIY. For this reason, we recommend using a graduated syringe. For example, a natural flavor dosed at 1% represents 0.1 mL from a 10 mL vial.

4. Incorporate an additive (optional)

Additives can balance your e-liquid, add a bit of freshness, or round out flavors, enhance tastes, etc. A true flavor enhancer, the additive is not essential but can finalize your creation to match the taste(s) you expect.

5. How to steep an e-liquid? (let your e-liquid rest)

It is necessary to let your e-liquid rest in order to allow the flavor(s) to blend with the base and thus enjoy an optimal taste. Steeping depends on the flavors used. For example, if your DIY e-liquid contains a mint flavor, a few hours may be enough, whereas if you have added blond tobacco flavors, a few days or even a few weeks will be necessary. A little patience is enough to fill your clearomizer with your e-liquid.

What dosage for my e-liquid?

The nicotine level (tobacco liquid) depends on your degree of dependence on this substance. An 18 mg/mL nicotine booster is equivalent to more or less 20 cigarettes/day, while a 6 mg/mL dosage is recommended for people who generally smoke fewer than 10 cigarettes/day.

How to test your DIY e-liquids?

Testing the flavors and aromas of the e-liquid you have just created is the ultimate step in creating your DIY e-liquid. A few drops in 2-3 ml of base are enough to appreciate the strength, the notes (fruity, sweet, etc.). For this, it is preferable to use a dripper.
