Glossary, definitions on the e-cigarette

The electronic cigarette is a tool that allows you to vaporize (or more precisely to turn into aerosol) the e-liquid from the tank in order to produce a "vapor" or "smoke" which is intended to be inhaled. This vapor can have several different flavors (tobacco taste, fruity, sweet, cocktail...) and may or may not contain nicotine.

Its composition consists of:

• Propylene glycol
• Vegetable glycerin
• Artificial or natural flavoring
• Some electronic liquids may contain colorants, water, alcohol, and the nicotine level can be chosen from several strengths from 0 to 19.6 mg/l.

Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin

They are the two main components of e-liquids. They allow the production of vapor and are flavor enhancers. Generally, the composition percentage is 80/20 or 70/30. The more the e-liquid is concentrated in propylene glycol, the more fluid it will be, its vapor will be average, and the flavors will be dry.The higher the concentration of vegetable glycerin in the e-liquid, the more syrupy it will be, its vapor will be more substantial, and the flavors will be sweeter and more indulgent.

The atomizer and the wicks

These are devices that allow the e-liquid to be heated, which will result in transforming this e-liquid into vapor. The atomizer is a metal wire that is coiled or located near the wicks; it has a resistance measured in ohms. These atomizers and wicks can be replaced depending on the models, and they are available in kits or as rebuildable.

The cartomizer or the clearomizer

They are the combination of the tank and the atomizer. The cartomizer is opaque, it is sealed. Its advantage is that it does not leak; its disadvantage is that you cannot see the level of e-liquid. The clearomizer is also the assembly of the atomizer, but the tank is transparent "clear" in English, which then allows you to see the level of e-liquid contained.

The battery

It is actually an energy accumulator; it charges or not depending on the model, and its usage duration varies according to its power, which is expressed in mAh (milliampere-hour). The higher the mAh value, the longer the battery will last. A good battery is made from lithium-ion. It is charged using a USB cable that can be connected to a computer, but it can also be charged using a wall charger.

Some batteries provide an improvement in the electronic cigarette here are some examples:

• Pass through: This battery can also be recharged using a mini USB cable that plugs into the end of the battery and allows you to keep smoking while recharging it.
• Twist: You can change its voltage by turning a button at the end of the battery and thus obtain a voltage between 3.2 and 4.5 V.

The Mods

They originally come from the word "modification"; it is a customized electronic cigarette. Mods are all large electronic cigarettes and provide experienced vapers with features and aesthetics that traditional e-cigarettes do not have. Mods generally have high-capacity batteries adjustable in power (W) and voltage (V).

Vaping

It is the verb that expresses the action of smoking an electronic cigarette; vapers are the users of electronic cigarettes. This term was chosen following a contest in 2008 entitled: Come vote and reinvent the term 'smoke an electronic cigarette'.

The Hit

The hit is the sensation that the smoke brings to the throat; the higher the nicotine level in your e-liquid, the stronger the hit. The hit can change depending on the atomizer used, and we then talk about differences between hot smoke, cold smoke, and warm smoke. For each type of smoke, the hit is different.

The Drip Tip

This is the hard or soft plastic tip, it can also be made of metal. It is this tip that is placed in the mouth to inhale the vapor from the electronic cigarette. It can come in various shapes, flat, rounded, mounted on a rotating axis. It is possible and even recommended to clean it with water as often as possible.
