A humidor by Rolls-Royce

If there was one extravagance Rolls-Royce had not contemplated in the modern era, it was becoming involved with the world of the cigar. The prestigious luxury car brand has just released its second high-end humidor. Here are the details.

A very high-end humidor

At 55,000 dollars (around 48,000 euros), the Rolls-Royce humidor has a good deal to live up to. Its price is that of a mid-range vehicle in France. Its role, however, is not to drive you wherever you please, but only to keep your cigars while you travel. At that price, you would expect it to do rather more than a standard humidor.

The Rolls-Royce Cellarette is built around an aluminium structure, chosen as much for its appearance as for its protective and insulating qualities. It opens on every side and lifts up to reveal the first surprise, namely hand-blown stone glasses. A box sits on either side of the structure. The first, lined with leather, is meant to hold a bottle (of whisky), and the other is the humidor itself, lined with Spanish cedar and fitted with an analogue hygrometer, with room for 4 cigars.

Rolls-Royce and its well-thought-out travel humidor

Every part of the humidor has been carefully worked out so that it serves a purpose. The open-pored obsidian veneer top can be used as a surface for glasses or an ashtray, or even as a small side table for a picnic or a meal outdoors.

Two S. T. Dupont accessories also complete the Cellarette: a Rolls-Royce S. T. Dupont Ligne 2 soft-flame lighter and a cigar cutter. They sit in a circular magnetic holder attached to the humidor.
