How do you vape properly?

Thinking of taking up vaping, or already started without quite finding your bearings? This article explains how to vape properly. There are in fact two methods, and it is up to you to choose the one that suits you best.

What is the difference between a cigarette and a vaping device?

Beyond their format and the way they are used, the cigarette and the electronic cigarette are not drawn on in the same way at all, which is precisely what makes the transition tricky for some smokers. Taking a puff on a conventional cigarette means drawing hard over a very short time. With an e-cig, by contrast, you need to draw for longer and far less intensely.

Some e-cigarette users end up frustrated simply because they do not know how to vape properly. Depending on the model, you may have to press a button to inhale, while others fire automatically. The draw should be drawn out and fairly slow, around four seconds. A pause between puffs is also needed, to let the coil soak up e-liquid again. Here is how to go about it, depending on the habits you had before.

Direct or indirect inhalation? Vape the way you like

With indirect inhalation, the technique is closer to that of the conventional cigarette: you draw the vapour into your mouth before taking it down into your lungs. To do so, the draw has to be a little more intense in order to release a greater flow of air. Note that this method spares your battery, since the power output and vapour production are minimal.

The other method, known as direct inhalation, involves taking the vapour straight into the lungs. It is generally suggested for experienced vapers, as it is slightly more technical. It is also the method that produces the big clouds. With more vapour and a stronger airflow, you will draw more on your battery, which means charging your e-cig more often.
