Zippo moves into eyewear

Since 2016, the lighter giant has been diversifying its products, even at the risk of surprising its followers. Building on the standing it enjoys among smoking accessories, Zippo has set itself a new challenge: widening its customer base with a new range of prescription glasses and sunglasses aimed at the general public.

After the successful lighters, time for glasses

Zippo glasses are not a recent development. Back in March 2016, the American company, best known for the famous “click” of its lighters, decided to step out of its comfort zone by offering sunglasses. Fashionable and unisex, they were meant to complete the brand’s international standing.

At the start, only 14 frames were offered by the brand. Today, more than 150 models are on the market. While Zippo has made its name in sunglasses, it is also possible to find a pair of Zippo glasses for reading. The finish is carefully done and the models are very much in fashion, sometimes taking up the style of the timeless aviators borrowed from Ray-Ban, sometimes offering more understated frames. Colourful, printed or plain, there is something for everyone. For its sunglasses, Zippo has pushed the boat out and even offers polarised lenses.

A style, a brand and a wide audience

Whether you smoke or not, the Zippo brand leaves no one indifferent. The same is true of its glasses. Reading glasses or sunglasses, they draw on the leading trends of the moment and are offered at highly competitive prices. It is a bet won by the brand, which keeps on winning over more followers.

Zippo glasses are aimed at an adult audience, even if some models can also suit teenagers. There are unisex models, while others are specific to women or to men. Vice-president Richard Finlow says he is proud to state that Zippo glasses will be a new way of asserting one’s style.
