Within reach of a wider public, they grew steadily in popularity, and there is a broad choice of blunt wraps today. The early twentieth century saw Blunts take off on the market, and many brands then started making this type of cigar.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Blunt wraps became widely popular, in particular in the American rap scene. To go unnoticed, some smokers used Blunts to conceal illicit substances and give the impression of smoking a cigar.
