The right way to care for your vaping device

If you have decided to take up vaping, this article is for you. We explain how to clean your electronic cigarette so as to keep it for as long as possible. Here is how it works.

A clean every time you refill with e-liquid

Put simply, cleaning your vaping device regularly helps it last. If you have a disposable model, cleaning is not an issue. For the other, dismantlable models, several steps are involved, but rest assured: it is neither long nor demanding.

Start by emptying the e-liquid tank. On fully dismantlable models, you can unscrew every part in order to clean it. Otherwise, unscrew the atomiser only.

No products are needed for the cleaning itself. Hot water is more than enough. Do make sure, however, that you rinse every part thoroughly before reassembling them, and wipe them with a soft cloth. Ideally, leave the parts to dry overnight on a clean cloth. You can then refill your e-cigarette with your favourite e-liquid, then screw the atomiser back on, along with the other parts where applicable.

Regular upkeep

Cleaning is a good way of making your e-cig last, but upkeep should not be neglected either. Among other things, it will protect your mod, whether its battery is built in or replaceable, as well as the battery itself. When the time comes, the battery has to be changed. A few early signs should alert you, such as charging problems or a battery that no longer holds its charge as it once did.

With built-in battery mods, you already know that the battery will last around 1 year. Beyond that, you will need to have it replaced. With replaceable battery mods, batteries have a life of about 6 months. Changing them is easy, but the manufacturer’s instructions must be followed closely so as not to damage the thread, for example. One small tip: once the battery is charged, avoid leaving your e-cigarette plugged in. As with smartphones, this wears the battery out prematurely.
