16 years on, Zippo brings back a Johnny Hallyday range

The first edition dates back to 2003. The lighters bearing Johnny Hallyday’s image, produced by Zippo, delighted the singer’s fans. Sixteen years on, the best-known lighter maker of all is having another go.

7 new windproof lighter models to “Allumer le feu”

Every year, to decorate its lighters, Zippo buys licences in many countries, mainly in the field of music. 2019 is no exception, and among the licences acquired are those of AC/DC and Johnny Hallyday.

The last edition of windproof lighters bearing the image of the French rock’n’roll star stirred up real enthusiasm. Sixteen years later, and no less than two years after his death, Zippo lighters are to come in a new series of 7 models. A collector’s edition should also see the light of day.

They will go on sale in the autumn of 2019. The company has announced production during July for delivery in the course of August.

What is known about the new Zippo Johnny Hallyday windproof lighters

The lighters will carry the “JH” logo on the side. The limited edition, for its part, will be numbered to guarantee the authenticity of the product, in place of a serial number. For now, only two models have been glimpsed. The first bears a black-and-white photograph of the singer, the other shows him sitting on crates of dynamite.

The Zippos of “le Taulier”, as the singer was known, will be sold only in 5,000 tobacconists partnered with the brand. Fans would be well advised to hurry: there will not be enough for everyone. Collectors are expected to snap up the collector’s box.

As for the price, the Johnny Hallyday Zippo windproof lighter will cost 49 euros for the “classic” edition and 79 euros for the collector’s edition. That looks modest compared with the last models from 2003, which can be found on the popular auction and second-hand sites. Copies of the Johnny Hallyday Zippo often go for around a hundred euros, and sometimes more.
