Vaping: what is the hit?

Cigarette smokers know the hit well. It is one of the sensations that disappear when you stop smoking. Vaping, however, also produces a hit, which changes what users feel when they move to the electronic cigarette. Here is everything there is to know about the hit.

What the hit means when vaping

You draw in the smoke from your cigarette and, there, a slight tingling makes itself felt in your throat. You feel your larynx tighten gently. Got it? That is the hit. This very particular sensation is entirely intrinsic to the cigarette.

The hit can be amplified depending on the tobacco used, the brand of cigarettes you smoke and the way you draw on them. It was the small extra that the electronic cigarette did not offer, at least in its early days, since their performance has improved considerably over recent years.

Electronic cigarettes produce a hit too

Thanks to extensive research and to technical advances shaped by the electronic cigarette phenomenon in France, e-cigarettes now give their users a hit. That suits them well enough, since a good many cigarette smokers moving to vaping used to feel frustrated, because that tingling did not exist until recently.

In vaping, the hit is created by the balance of 4 elements: the nicotine level, the power, the PG/VG ratio and the flavours. As far as nicotine is concerned, the higher the level, the stronger the hit. Choosing the right e-liquid therefore matters if you want sensations similar to those of the cigarette.

As for the strength of the hit, it can be managed by your e-cigarette directly. The more powerful your device, the higher the nicotine level. You can therefore adjust the intensity of your electronic cigarette to increase or soften your hit.

You can also control the level of your hit through the amount of PG and VG in your liquids. The more PG there is, the more intense the hit. Flavours, lastly, can play a part too: fresh flavours such as mint, menthol or very fresh fruits can accentuate the hit.
