Are you not yet familiar with nicotine pouches? These small tobacco-free sachets deliver nicotine through the lining of the mouth, with no combustion involved. Here is an overview of the different types found on the market.

Nicotine pouches: what exactly are they?

Nicotine pouches have spread widely across the market. They are addressed to smokers and sold as a tobacco-free product, since they provide a dose of nicotine without combustion. The pouches take the form of small sachets of powder, some of them containing CBD and others not. Sold in a range of flavours, from the fruitiest to the mintiest, they release nicotine in the mouth along with the taste chosen.

But how do they work? Supplied as mini sachets, one is simply placed under the upper lip and held there against the gum. It takes around 10 minutes for the whole sachet to be dissolved by the saliva. There is no combustion and no tobacco involved. The pouches give off neither smell nor smoke, which makes them very hard to notice, including indoors and in public places.

What types of pouches can you find on the market?

Although this type of product is still in its early days, the choice is already very wide. Several brands have launched their own pouches. The best known, and the most French of them all, remains Calm+, which offers more or less intense versions, from 10 to 30 mg of nicotine per sachet. As far as taste goes, however, the brand only offers mint; the particularity of its range is that the sachets also contain CBD. Its direct competitor, EDC, offers the same type of product but aimed at beginners, with a nicotine content of 2 mg per sachet. On the other hand, its flavour choice is wider, with coffee, mint and mango.

An early entrant on this market, the FUU brand addresses cautious users with pouches of 3, 6 or 12 mg. They come in red fruit, tropical and strong mint versions.
