Sergo and his pictures drawn in ballpoint pen

Because ballpoint pens can also be remarkable tools for art, we invite you today to discover Serge Noel, who goes by the artist name Sergo, an illustrator and graphic designer whose work is for the most part produced using nothing but a BIC pen and coloured ballpoint pens. This self-taught artist began drawing with pens a few years ago now, and the results are striking.

International stars, commissioned portraits, landscapes and flowers, and animals too: the artist tries his hand at every style and sets himself a new challenge each time with his ballpoint pens. The results are surprising, and some of his works are startlingly lifelike. With his ballpoint pens Serge Noel manages to reproduce every detail, every shadow and every highlight of a photograph. Some of his works are made with a blue or black BIC pen, but there are also drawings made with coloured ballpoint pens for even greater realism, closer to a photograph than to a drawing, as his portrait of Nelson Mandela shows.
