When he founded his house, Simon Tissot-Dupont was making prestige leather goods; it was not until 1952 that S.T. DUPONT applied that expertise to the art of fire and patented its gas lighter, which is still a success today. In 1973 the brand turned to the art of writing, creating its first luxury pen. Three years later the house returned to its original trade, leather goods.
