The tobacco beetle (Lasioderma serricorne F.) is a holometabolous insect of the order Coleoptera and the family Anobiidae.

Various solutions to combat the lasioderma

There are several solutions to fight against lasioderma. Indeed, after your cigar has been infected by lasioderma, there are 2 solutions that allow you to get rid of them.

The first solution is: freezing!

Be careful, you should not put your cigars directly into the freezer… but follow this step-by-step process instead:

1. Place your contaminated cigars in a resealable plastic bag and leave this bag in the refrigerator for 12 hours.
2. Then place the bag in the freezer for 12 hours as well.
3. Complete the process with a stay of your pouch in the refrigerator… but for a duration of 24 hours.

This process must be followed to avoid the explosion of your wrapper leaves due to too rapid temperature changes.

The second solution: The SERRICO lasioderma trap

There is only one way to avoid the misadventure of encountering the lasioderma, it is… prevention.

Here are two pieces of advice to follow :

1. Never buy cigars from questionable sources. Indeed, these have certainly not been stored under the best conditions and will therefore be more prone to the appearance of our enemy.
2. Do not store freshly rolled cigars (such as those received during torcedor demonstrations in our tobacconists) with your cigars already present in your humidor. These "fresh" cigars have not received the full fumigation treatment, and if they allow the development of the pest, it will quickly attack your stock.
